Chapter Five: How to Care for Your First Gold Jewelry
Chapter Five — in which you become the keeper of your own treasure.
Gold may last forever, but it still loves a little kindness. Here are five easy habits that will keep your pieces beautiful for life:
- Last on, first off. Put jewelry on after perfume, sunscreen and hairspray — and take it off before showering or swimming. Pool chlorine is gold's least favourite thing in the world.
- Give it a gentle bath. A bowl of warm water, a tiny drop of mild soap, a soft brush (a baby toothbrush is perfect), then pat dry. That's it — no magic potions needed.
- Everyone gets their own room. Store pieces separately in a soft pouch or a lined box so chains don't tangle and nothing gets scratched.
- Sports off, jewelry off. Basketball and bracelets are not friends.
- Check the clasp. Once in a while, make sure clasps close properly — it's how favourite pieces stay found.
Take care of your jewelry, and one day you might hand it to someone you love, still shining, with all your chapters inside it. ✨
